When you thought it couldn’t get any better, the Brisbane Cycling Festival is just getting into second gear! Roaring into the final week, there is more do, see and cycle than you can imagine.
Expect to see more entertainment lighting up Queen Street Mall, delicious food and drink to tantalize your taste buds, activities to warm up the heart rate, music to liven the soul and lightening speed on two wheels that will motivate you to new heights.
Let us entertain you all week long, and if you’re heading through Queen Street Mall, you won’t be able to miss the action. Bring your best smile, hey even bring your bike along to meet David Green cartoonist who will capture your caricature portrait (even with your beloved bicycle). Come and say hello to our largest guests in the fantastic Stilt Walkers. Unicycling, juggling, balloon twisting, mime acts, acrobatics – oh my! You do not want to miss the incredible Matt in Queen Street Mall. The girls who up our two wheels for eight, are the superstar and super talented Roller Girls. With more energy, personality and sass than anyone else on wheels – this team will have you in the mood to roll in force!
Plus, don’t miss the BMX Half Pipe with World Champion and future Olympian Logan in Queen Street Mall is undoubtedly an iconic highlight of the Brisbane Cycling Festival that everyone can get around. The powerhouses on BMX bringing a whole new appreciation to adrenaline, knee pads and gravity are the BMX Pro Riders.
The Cycling City has officially called us out on a challenge to put pedal to the metal, and they’re giving us an open road for the win! Promoting safe cycling in the city, with a dash of competition and a whole lot of inspirational benchmarks with the cycling elite to push us that extra mile, you can’t spin a wheel without touching a spoke of the Brisbane Cycling Festival this week.
The Tour de Brisbane has arrived and it’s ready and roaring for this weekend! Move over the likes of Cadel Evans and Anna Meares – oh wait, Anna Meares we will see you there! We are jumping on our bike, shaving our legs and riding our first real tour event as the city opens up to let us through.
Bucket List – tick! Bring the kids for the family friendly 8km, stretch your legs and skip leg day for the 45km, or test out your spin class progress and glide along the 110km. All while raising funds for the Ride for a Metre Matters campaign to promote safe cycling in the city through the partnership with the Amy Gillett Foundation.
From Friday 12th April, South Bank will be injected with life, entertainment and cycling like you have never seen before! You will see live entertainment, the world of cycling exhibited in the streets and all of the cycling stars from far and wide for the Tour de Brisbane and National Road Series.
Not to mention scooting on over to the Anna Meares Velodrome for the official launch of the Six Day Cycling extravaganza. The lights get turned down and the music turned up, as Six Day Cycling combines the very best in track cycling with an incredible party atmosphere. It’s the cycling party like you’ve never seen before as you watch these champions zoom past at unbelievable speeds.
There is a workshop on every day, around every corner. Paired with incredible collaborations with the likes of Goodlife cycling your way to blend your own smoothie and racing to win some awesome prizes, touring the coffee and flipping it to win it with Merlo and catching the Red Bull Team spicing up our streets.
